Lawn Care that's Safe for Plants

Bio Green’s patent-pending lawn formula is made with a carefully chosen mix of liquid fertilizer, plant nutrients with soil amendments that are blended specifically for the nutritional needs of plants.

Our Lawn Care technology will bring your soil back to its natural state, balancing the pH and nutrients, while promoting a stronger root system and healthier top growth; the essentials for a rich, vibrant and healthy lawn. The use of our formula from year to year will encourage your root system to grow stronger and denser thus preventing weeds from emerging while making the lawn more drought resistant. A healthy plant, just like a healthy body, has a stronger immune system making it naturally resistant to diseases, insects and other pests.

Once a plant uses up the food it has stored in its system, it will draw nutrition from the soil. Since our lawn care product will feed and balance the soil, your lawn, landscape and gardens will receive the essential nutrients needed for maximum growth and blooming potential. Grub Control

White Grubs are the larvae of June Beetles, which have a three year life cycle. In June, they lay their eggs in the soil and within weeks, the white grub emerges and feeds during the warm summer months, often causing extensive damage. They feed on grass, grass roots and garden crops. Food-seeking predators (such as moles, skunks, crows and blackbirds) often do further damage where grubs are present. Late summer or early fall is a great time to control these potentially devastating insects, catching them before they hibernate deep in the soil, preparing to destroy your lawn next year. STOP Grubs from destroying your lawn.

Flea and Tick Control

Got Fleas? Other insects in your lawn area?

The flea population is typically made up of 50% eggs, 30% larvae, 15% pupae and only 5% biting adults.

Fact: One female flea can lay about 18 eggs a day and just 20 fleas on a dog can produce 360 eggs per day and over 2000 eggs in a week.

Most fleas survive the winter in the larval or pupal stage and grow best during warm, moist winters and spring.

Consider treating your entire yard to protect those that are important to you. Insure that your family and pets can safely be in your lawn all season long. Our treatment has the same active ingredient as the flea and tick collar that you may be putting on your pet. Give us a call to find out more information or request a quote. (614) 764-2260

Liquid Lawn Aeration

Why do we recommend lawn aerations? The goal of aerating your lawn is to get more oxygen, water and nutrients into the root zone. Improving the aeration in the soil is extremely beneficial to lawns that are growing in clay or compacted soils.

BioGreen products are designed to infuse more O2 into the root zone via key nutrients and weak acids. This same principal works to release some of the soil’s Humus into humic acids as well. This method is a microscopic alkali extractive technique that removes salts and creates bonds that are oxygen centric. These microscopic soil interactions create billions of fractures and encourage greater rooting. The rooting becomes the macroscopic aerator and now we have greater pathways for air and water.

We have heard it numerous times from homeowner that their good topsoil was stripped off when their house was built, and they are having problems with their lawns health. The issue is that they were left with a denser clay or subsoil in which to grow their lawn. The soil needs to be improved and aerations helps.

Benefits of liquid aeration:

  • Creates billions of fractures and encourage greater rooting.
  • Covers the entire lawn unlike core aeration which pokes holes every 3-6 inches.
  • It can be done anytime during the growing season different than the mechanical core aeration which is only recommended during the spring or fall.
  • No holes are made, and no grass is removed.
  • No need to mark sprinkler heads, invisible fences or cable lines.

Seeding

Bio Green offers seeding as part of our lawn restoration service

Seeding is another important lawn care task, yet many homeowners do not know it. After 3-4 years, grass plants will slow down their productive rates. Re-seeding compensates for that natural slowdown of the turfs reproduction.

When should you seed? The best time to seed a lawn in Ohio is between August 15 and September 30th. Of course, every season is different, and this is a guide. Lawns seeded later in the fall may fail because the seedling turf has insufficient growth to survive the winter.

Why not Spring? The biggest reason we stay away from Spring is not to impact your pre-emergent schedule for weed control. Spring seedings are more susceptible to heavy infestations of summer annual weeds. Infestations of these summer annual weeds are greatly reduced in successful early fall seedings, since a good density develops before the weed seeds germinate the following Spring.

Bio Green Ohio offers three different seeding services.

  • Over-seeding – The process is that seeds are dispersed on your lawn using a broadcast spreader. This process introduces new cultivars to help thicken your lawn. This is best done in conjunction with a core aeration allowing more seed to soil contact. Over-seeding is best done in the Spring or Fall if the homeowner can adequately water.
  • Dormant seeding – Dormant seeding is similar to overseeding, but it is done in late fall/winter when soil temperatures stay below germination activity(usually December). This process uses the freezing, thawing, and snow cover to work its way into the soil. The seeds will germinate in early spring when soil temperatures rise above germination temperatures. This is recommended for the busy homeowner who does not have the time to adequately water their lawn.

Dormant Seeding

Seeding is another important lawn care task, yet many homeowners do not know it. After 3-4 years, grass plants will slow down their productive rates. Re-seeding compensates for that natural slowdown of the turfs reproduction.

Dormant seeding is broadcasting seed over the targeted area when the soil temperatures will not go above germination levels (usually December). It uses the freezing, thawing and snow cover of the ground to pull the seeds into the soil so they will be available and ready when spring temperatures rise above germination levels. Spring also gives us enough rain so watering is at a minimum.

We offer this service for those who do not have the time to water their new seedlings as much as they need when starting out or who have missed the window for fall seeding.

Natural Weed Control

BioGreen Ohio uses BMP “Best Management Practice” when controlling weeds.

This means that we will use the least amount of herbicides to ensure your lawn is weed free but also minimizing the amount of herbicide put into the environment.

You will notice that over the course of the year your lawn will become thicker with our fertilizer which will help make it harder for any weed to germinate. Weed control is used on an “as needed bases” only every application.

We Treat Emerald Ash Borer and other invasive pests

Bio Green Ohio uses a trunk injection system to treat your Ash and Hemlock trees.  A trunk injection is the most effective alternative to spraying or soil applying pesticides for tree insect or pest control.  Bio Green Ohio trunk injection equipment injects Emamectin Benzoate/Imidacloprid directly inside the tree.  The trunk injection systems and formulations are proven to give the best results when protecting trees from borers and insects.

It is Eco-Friendly

Unlike spraying or soil applications, the Bio Green Ohio Arborjet system injects directly into the tree, limiting any impact to your family, the applicator, and the environment around you.

Trunk Injection Facts

  • Through trunk injection, small doses of Emamectin Benzoate are carefully measured and injected directly into the tree’s transport tissues, enabling distribution within the tree, but limiting the impact to the environment.
  • The best time to treat trees in the upper third of the country is from May through October when trees are most active, and water or nutrients are actively flowing in the tree.  The larval (damaging) stage of EAB does its worst from August through October.
  • Injections are made in the bottom 18 inches of the tree, at intervals of around 6 inches apart.  The depth for the injection is between 5/8” and 1 5/8” into the tree.  A 10 inch diameter tree would receive approximately a 1.5 ounce injection for two years of protection.
  • Trunk injection formulations can take hours to weeks to move throughout the tree.  Most often trees are protected within a few days.
  • Trunk injection is widely considered to be the most effective and consistent method available for preventing EAB from attacking a tree, or killing EAB in an infested tree.  It can stop damage even if the tree is already under attack without harming the surrounding environment.
  • Researchers at Ohio State, Michigan State, Purdue, the University of Illinois, and University of Wisconsin have concluded that Arborjet’s trunk-injected systemic insecticides are the most effective treatment option, providing very effective control of EAB for two years, with a single application, even under heavy infestation pressure.  It also provided a higher level of control than other products in side-by-side studies.
  • Bio Green Ohio uses the Arborjet truck injection system which uses an Arborplug, a one way port with a self sealing, surgical septum that prevents product from leaking back out of the injection site.

Mosquito Control

BioGreen is proud to offer environmentally friendly mosquito control

A novel tool to combat Aedes mosquitoes that transmit Dengue, Chikungunya, Yellow Fever and Zika virus

Dengue, Chikungunya, Yellow Fever and Zika virus are rapidly spreading mosquito-borne viral diseases. They are difficult to diagnose and treat, and mosquito control is the only option to stop transmission.

Aedes mosquitoes are difficult to control as they lay their eggs in very small breeding sites and have become resistant to chemical insecticides. The In2Care® Mosquito Trap attracts and kills Aedes females with novel green ingredients that target both mosquito larvae and adults. It is the first to exploit the concept of ‘autodissemination’, resulting in an effective kill of mosquito larvae in breeding sites surrounding the Trap.

In2Care® Mosquito Traps can be placed outdoors at a recommended density of 1/400 m2 (10 Traps per acre) and be maintained every 4 weeks using refill sachets. The product lends itself perfectly for use in vector control programs, particularly in hotspot areas, and by professional pest management companies for Aedes mosquito control services at resorts, hotels and residential sites.

Unique larvicide autodissemination

Aedes aegypti can transmit Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika virus to humans. They are attracted to small man-made breeding sites and have a unique egg-laying behaviour; spreading eggs over several breeding sites to minimise risks for their offspring. The In2Care® Mosquito Trap exploits this behaviour by contaminating the female mosquito body and using her to spread larvicide to multiple breeding sites around the Trap. Via this “autodissemination” the Trap can kill virtually all mosquito larvae in its surroundings before these become biting adults. In this way small cryptic breeding can be effectively controlled.

How does it work?

The In2Care® Mosquito Trap is made of durable plastic and uses water with an odor lure to attract egg-laying Aedes mosquitoes. Once inside, mosquitoes contact the specially treated gauze near the water surface and get contaminated with a larvicide and a fungus. We exploit the fact that Aedes like to divide their eggs over multiple sites; by letting them fly out of the Trap whilst carrying larvicide on their legs. They transport the larvicide and contaminate several breeding sites around the Trap. In this way, we can kill larvae in small and hard to find breeding sources. The mosquito also gets infected with an insect-specific fungus that kills her before she can spread disease.

A multi-impact tool:

  • Kills all larvae inside the Trap
  • Kills larvae in surrounding breeding sites
  • Kills exposed mosquitoes
  • Stops virus development

An environmentally friendly solution

Insecticide resistance has become a major problem in countries infested by Aedesmosquitoes. Area-wide insecticide fogging is still being used but is showing limited efficacy and major impacts on non-target organisms. This necessitates a switch to more sustainable, environmentally friendly vector control. The In2Care® Mosquito Trap is the first Trap that uses a biological control agent to kill mosquitoes. It deploys an US-EPA-approved fungus that kills the mosquito several days after infection and can prevent disease transmission. The Trap larvicide is US-EPAapproved and WHO-recommended for mosquito control and use in drinking water. Both bioactives have short halflives and pose very low risks for non-target organisms.

In2Care® Mosquito Traps deploy a small dose of bioactive mixture in an enclosed point-source environment that is specifically attractive to mosquitoes. Only tiny amounts of larvicide will get spread to other breeding sites (mostly small man-made containers), which is enough to kill mosquito larvae (as <10 ppb PPF works well) but not enough to cause risk for non-target organisms like fish or mammals. In this way, our Traps offer an effective mosquito control option without drastic use of chemicals in the entire environment.

Published & Field Validated Results

Field efficacy studies were performed in Trinidad, Cayman Isl and Florida, USA. The Manatee County Mosquito Control District tests for US-EPA registration used local strains of Aedes aegypti and albopictus. Results confirmed that the fungus effectively kills mosquitoes several days after gauze exposure (graph A), which allows them to also disseminate larvicide to other sites before dying. There were massive reductions in adult mosquitoes produced in other sites near the Trap; >80% were inhibited from emerging as adult mosquito (graph B). See all results at: http://www.bioone.org/doi/full/10.2987/17-6642R.1

In2Care® Mosquito Traps were initially developed and scientifically validated in our mosquito laboratory using wild-type Aedes colonies (www.parasitesandvectors.com/content/7/1/200). The Trap deploys a very special type of gauze developed by In2Care. It holds the bioactives via electrostatic binding forces, which enables a high dose transfer when mosquitoes make contact and causes high levels of mortality (see http://www.pnas.org/content/112/39/12081.full.pdf).

Bio Green Ohio Service Reviews

Norman Lanier

David is awesome! Totally reliable and committed to doing an outstanding job for his clients! His products are super effective and eco-friendly. I have used 3 or 4 lawn services over the last 14 years, and after 3 applications by David, my lawn now looks better than it ever has!

Tom Potter

I am starting my fourth or fifth season with Bio Green Ohio and have been pleased since day one as I continue to be today. Prior to this, I had used the two well know companies here in Columbus. I was dissatisfied with them both for lack of attention and nonexistent responses when I called or sent a letter. I felt that I was only a number to them and they demonstrated zero interest in working with me other than to have their telemarketers call on a regular basis to up sell another service. So, when I decided to hire another company, I did a lot of research and Bio Green had very strong reviews and is why I chose to go with them. From the start, it was obvious they cared and were interested in what my needs and concerns are. It also is very refreshing that when the Technician is out, he will talk with you if you have any questions rather than the other folks who seem to run a marathon to get in and out as quickly as possible. My lawn has some challenges that Bio Green inherited and has been working hard to remedy. The great thing is that whenever I reach out, the response is immediate and Dave has made several trips to examine and study the issues at hand to determine the best course of action. I cannot overstate how happy I am and would highly recommend Bio Green Ohio to anyone who is looking to replace their current company or new to hiring a Lawn Care Service.

Dave

I contacted Bio Green 2 years ago after losing 20% of my lawn to fungus. Dave came out and assessed my lawn and offered his advice. After 2 years and with Bio Green my lawn looks better than it ever has. The other HUGE benefit (that I didn't realize at the time) their process doesn't use harmful chemicals that can hurt your children and pets. I won't trust my lawn to anyone else.

Dan Dragin

We had lots of dandelions and other weeds that decided to pop up as everything came in to bloom. Lori went out to the house to give an estimate same day I requested, and scheduled service shortly thereafter. Lawn looks great, and I'm happy that I am not using toxic chemicals for treatment. Thanks!!

Eduardo Collazo

Dave and Lori are truly the best! I wasn't seeing results doing my own fertilizing, not to mention all of the weeds and I started to explore alternative options. When I found out that the stuff they use is all natural and safe for my furry buddy I was sold. They were out at my house within days of my request and overnight it seemed that all of the weeds had vanished. My favorite was the personalized note that Dave left on my invoice with some pointers. Very satisfied and strongly recommend!!

Brenda Reddy

So far Bio Green has lived up to it's billing. We're not sure our yard has ever looked as good as it does right now. With two dogs it was important to us to find a company who used natural fertilization. We are very happy with our decision to use Bio Green.

Diane Hunter

Customer service is top-notch! They are quick to respond and take action. They use products I feel good about using and are very knowledgeable. They use the same care with my referrals.

Ryan Sibley

Biogreen has done a great job on our lawn! We have been thrilled with the service they provide, and it's nice to know that their product is safe for kids and pets.
